Oh Heavens.
David and Ethan have started crawling IN-to their cribs and think they are quite amazing little people. They haven't actually crawled OUT on their own, they have always had assistance from their dad, but it has always been a headfirst dismount. Their climbing tactics are enough to scare the be-gee-bees out of me!! So, to keep my heart attack at bay, we changed their cribs into toddler beds this morning and it is now naptime... I laid them down and they then happily sent me on my way saying "nigh-night, nigh-night, bye-bye". Naptime is never that easy! I have already gone in three times now, got them back in their beds, took away their fishy game (it's now out here with me), helped them back in bed, said good night and again they sent me away, cheerful as can be. I am now listening to them "sleep" and will be going back in a fourth time as soon as I'm done typing to once again encourage sleep. This isn't going to be easy. I knew it wasn't going to be. Oh heavens, my little two year olds are keeping me on my toes and I'm certain it won't be changing any time soon. :)

I feel for ya sweety! I have no idea how to do it with 2 in the room... but for one, we lock the door. They fall asleep eventually and if not we put them to bed right after dinner =). don't worry, it's a phase and it too shall pass. Just think, Owen told me he loved me this morning w/out prompting! Big improvement from 2 weeks ago =)
GOOD LUCK!
Mike says lock them in two different rooms so they can't play =)
you must give me an update!
Wow! You are ahead of us. I have no desire to switch them until they are like 5 years old(that's not too long right?!). We have tents on both their cribs so they can't get out. I'm horrible =) but my sanity is at stake. Good luck, let me know if it works and how you get it to work. =)
We lock our kids in, too. This is a total requirement to keep my sanity somewhat intact. Supernanny has some good tips on how to keep kids in their beds, though I don't think all of them would work with my kids (suppernanny.com). It's 4pm and they still haven't napped. I think I just need a gurney with straps to hold him down!!! (You should see what we did to the crib to keep Lincoln OUT and Orion safe! lol, it seriously looks like a cage!)
Good luck!
Good luck with that...bedtime should be exciting.
Hey, you wanted more excitement in your life, right? I like the gurney with straps idea! I had to lay down with the kids--but that would only work with one. Good luck!!!
Hang in there Katie!! All I can say is keep trying....the newness of it all will eventually wear off. Mine are doing better at naps than they were months ago, but it was so frustrating to go through it when we did. Just keep the normal schedule as much as you can, keep them in there at least an hour for "quiet time", remove anything that can be dangerous, and put a child proof door handle in the inside of their room.
I feel for you. And I also lock my son in (after giving him a chance to stay in on his own), but it's tough with two, especially for naps.
wow, that's amazing. i'd probably freak out.
We're going to move Hailey into a toddler bed pretty soon too so that will be interesting! Good luck!
Oh geez. I totally typed you like a paragraph and then the computer did some update thing and shut down =(
What's the update? Mike said you were contemplating tents? Forgot to tell you that we don't "lock them in" all the time. Just in the beginning when they're being crazy and won't stay. We usually lay with them on their couch in the room until they're very very sleepy or we fall asleep, ha ha. and then transfer them to the bed. After a few weeks of that it gets easier to put them there awake and just hang out in the room until they're asleep... then the door locking thing becomes a threat and they behave as to avoid it =)
