Thrifted and FREE wall hangings

I have discovered the fun and thrill of thrifting—much to the chagrin of my dear husband:) Today while shopping at my favorite thrift store, I came across this awesome round mirror…

Mirror

Just last week (after re-painting my blue wall to a lighter blue) I told my mom that I wanted a big round mirror for it. And voila! I found one today! Yay!! Obviously, it’s currently brown, but it will soon be a fabulous bright, crisp white and hanging up on the wall. So excited:) I also want to paint the mantle the same bright white. Oh, and how about the tile below the mantle, eh? Pretty fancy schmancy right? I know you’re jealous;)

And now for the FREE wall hanging that I turned into my most favorite calendar ever:

Calendar

My super cute chalk calendar used to look like this:

Calendar before

I picked this little number up off the side of the road at someone’s house with a sign that said “free”. I love free! I sanded it down, sprayed it with Chalkboard paint and created my monthly calendar. Love it :)

Also, I bought these awesome Chalk pens at Michael’s and let me tell you, they are soooo fabulous! No chalky mess on my hands!! Woo hoo!

And I know I’ve already posted about these, but I’ve gotta share about them again:

The Family 2

The frame on the left I bought at a garage sale for $6 and spray painted it black. The other frame I got at Goodwill for $1.99 because it had no glass in it. Enter my favorite framer ever, ABC Mat and Framing, and I now have two awesome wall hangings for a fraction of what I would have paid.

I’m currently stock piling frames for our play room…I’ll be spraying them all sorts of bright colors. I already have red, blue and green frames and will soon be painting others in orange, yellow or bright pink. FUN!!!!!

You are my hero! I was just thinking the other day, "How come when I pick out things at a thrift store and bring them home and use them, they still look thrift store-y and not trendy?" I still ask myself this!
Yours look super duper awesome fun coolness!

I wish I liked thrifting. I just don't enjoy the time and energy spent on the hopes that I might get a good find. I just want to go to one place and get everything I need at a good price and be done with it. Am I dreaming? I'm currently trying to do a photo collage wall without breaking the bank, but I don't know if I have the patience or the eye for thrifting. Good for you! Where are your favorite places to go?
I can't wait to see how your mirror and other frames turn out once they're all painted.

The wall is a light blue/grey, you can definitely tell in person :)
