31-ish weeks

I’m realizing that I haven’t taken very many belly shots this time around…actually, looking back at my pictures from the first pregnancy, I didn’t take many then either. The shots of me with my short hair are from this pregnancy, 31 and a half weeks, and the longer hair shot is from 30 and a half weeks with the boys. My tummy is definitely smaller than last time (good thing considering there is only one this time!) but I also started out weighing more…hmm. and grrr. :)

Katie 31 weeks Katie 31 weeks and a couple days

I’m constantly asked (or people assume) that this pregnancy is so much easier than my twin pregnancy was, but I’m here to tell you, that ain’t so!! I had a really easy, no complication, first pregnancy. Add to that fact that I gained just 43 total pounds with TWINS, I had a job where I sat on my bum pretty much all day and was pampered by all my co-workers, I stopped working at the office and started working from home around 30 weeks, then quit working entirely at 33 weeks, then had the boys at 37 weeks, and really, it wasn’t bad.

One thing I remember being hard the first time around was how extremely tired I was (of course). But, I would come home from work, take a couple hour long nap, eat dinner, then go to bed. Then start my day over. This time around, I’ve taken maybe 5 naps total. Twin 3-year old boys doesn’t leave much time for relaxing or sleeping. Another hard thing from the twin pregnancy: my back hurt the entire second trimester, but by the third trimester, I was feeling great. The last few weeks of that pregnancy, I couldn’t walk very far without getting Braxton Hicks, but that’s nothing compared to this time.

So, here’s my list from this time around…be aware, I’m definitely going to sound like I’m complaining, just call me Captain Complainy-Head, I’m totally okay with it.

  • Pretty much from day 1, my sciatic nerve has KILLED. A day hasn’t gone by that it hasn’t hurt.
  • My tail bone was bruised so badly from the boys delivery that it has hurt constantly since they were born. Pregnancy has only increased the pain.
  • Sleeping pretty much sucks. And I really try to never say that word (my dad would chastise me for saying it), but seriously, it does. Anyway, I haven’t slept great since I got pregnant. My back hurts and I toss and turn. Lately my hips and shoulder hurt too.
  • I’m tired!!
  • I have two very active 3-year olds that keep me constantly busy, as well as refereeing. They play together which is nice, but they also fight and squabble and disagree and….oh my.
  • Braxton Hicks started about a month ago (so around 26 weeks) and they are constant! All day long. Quite a few times an hour. Even in the middle of the night when I’m in bed! Annoying. Uncomfortable. Keep me from doing stuff. I can’t walk very far. The boys want to be picked up and I shouldn’t really give in, but I do and probably shouldn’t.
  • We moved into a house! So fun and great and exciting, but a lot of work!
  • Potty training. David is trained, Ethan is the great resistor. I’m hoping to have him out of diapers by the time the little miss shows up. Seriously, he has no interest and is very vocal about it.

Okay, so enough of that, I just had to share. I feel so much better now;) Now I’m off to vacuum up the Life cereal that was poured out by my stinker David during the time I wrote this, and to clean the house from top to bottom. Hopefully I end up checking at least 3 things off my list of 20 I hope to accomplish today. Oh, and a shower would be nice too, but I’m not counting on it.

Happy Monday!

Oh gosh, my poor sweet sister-in-law! And to think that I want to be pregnant so bad (not that we're trying yet, cause we're not). I seriously think we forget (very conveniently) the woes of pregnancy. After reading your honest and very tough list, I realize, and remember, that's it's not quite what my memory has conjured up. You can do it! Hold on! You're almost done!

awh Katie. I feel for ya. Anything they can do for your tailbone after you deliver? don't feel bad for complaining - men don't understand and they can't possibly pretend to. sometimes it SUCKS! I'm over praying for sleep - so now I just pray for the Lord to give me strength and a sound mind to operate with since I'm so sleep deprived. he he he. Hope you feel better soon...yeah baby girl!!!!
LOVIN' the taupe wall! Must paint one in my house for photo backdrop!

Katie you know what I just really like about you...you are real! :) I think all women deserve a day to complain...or a few...espcially when we are pregnant, cause lets be honest...though it's a HUGE blessing, it's not easy. Here's to survival. Yay for being 31ish weeks. You look great!

And...I LOVE the glimpse of your new home!!

Ha Ha...Well..I'm only 21 weeks and feeling very complaineyish alredy but I must say you make me feel better :). My sciatic nerve started hurting today and I have never experienced that one. Did not like it at all!! Other than feeling fat, not liking my clothes, and tired much of the time...I'm doing okay. Hang in there! You're almost done!

I thought this last pregnancy would be so much easier compared to the twin pregnancy. It wasn't! I didn't take into account the other children I had this time running around, wanting me to hold them blah blah blah. So i am with ya! Once again we have parallel lives =) Except you have at least one kid potty trained and I have none. Gotta be a twin thing. Hang in there! Your sweet baby will be here soon!

Oh Katie ... now I understand why people always ask me if I am having twins! I am SOSOSOSOSOSOSOoooooo much bigger than you and was from the way beginning even with the first one. You are tiny! Pregnant but tiny! Only nine more weeks to go ... you can do it!

You are one cute pregnant lady! I can't remember, did you make it to 38 weeks with the boys? How big were they?

Amazing how bringing a baby girl is so much more dramatic than boys. I have learned my girlie wants to be completely different from her brothers. Pregnancy and all...fun times.
