Several museums are free to city residents in Balboa Park on Tuesdays and we decided to try out the Model Railroad Museum a few weeks back. Unfortunately, I didn’t check the hours of the museum before we went and had to wait 2 hours before we could go in. The good part—Balboa is right next to the zoo, so we took a little detour through the park and on to the zoo (see post below) before making it back to the museum.

We walked through the Spanish market place…I loved the colorfully painted concrete stones…
And then finally made it back to the museum…

I didn't know there was a train museum there. Luke is totally into trains these days so I'll have to try it out. Thanks for the heads up on the hours :)
