I received a jury summons for myself in the mail yesterday....and do you want to know the very first thing I noticed? My report date. It just so happens to be my BIRTHDAY! Uh, NO! I will not be doing jury duty on my 30th birthday!! My "request for excuse" has been sent in the mail. I mean seriously, I have 2 year old twins, doesn't that count for something?!

I'd be surprised if they let you off the hook. Supposedly day care is not an excuse b/c you're not nursing. You can always get a sitter. Hope it works for you!!!! I actually had fun going to my first one, but it was NOT on my birthday =)
Let me know if they let you off....my cousin who lives in Texas just got a jury summons and told them that she has two children under the age of two and no one to watch them and they told her that that used to be a valid reason for being excused but is no longer. They let her off this time but told her not to use that as an excuse next time because they won't accept it. I think it stinks! Her husband could take off for a few days if she had to go but what if she gets on a trial for weeks????? I don't think it is fair.
Let me know what they say.
I got off of jury duty because of my boys. Everett was about a month old though. I hope you get out of it.
You gave the BEST reason for being excused but if you don't then hopefully you won't get called in. I've been "on call" three times and never had to actually go in. Good luck!
Two year old twins are definitely a legit excuse! I haven't had to serve since I had Rachel, though I did it a few times before her arrival.
I always use the 'kids' reason and I haven't served jury duty for over 4 years. It totally works! And I'm sure you could come up with another reason, too. Like having to be forced to pay for child care, something like that. They don't like jurors who are supposedly biased, so the fact that you are a mormon conservative gets you off right away! :)
