See? This way, there's no reflection to deal with! (cute frame, huh? I made it:)
And secondly, when taking a self portrait, don't lift your chin up thinking the camera will be able to see you better...that's just flawed thinking...it won't...Promise!
Instead, slightly lower your chin. You'll look LOTS better! ;) (learned this on my own thank you very much!)
Plus, your cheeck bones end up looking AMAZING!
And another few things, the teacher yesterday offered some advice that I liked:
1. Edit your work--edit it ruthlessly! (Currently I use picasa to brighten up my pictures or add a little saturation...some day I'll learn to use Photo Shop so I can do all sorts of crazy fun stuff. Currently, it causes me serious angst and frustration. I don't like it!!!)
2. If your pictures aren't interesting, get closer!
3. Shoot tons of pictures, edit way down, show your best images.
Some day I'll call myself a photographer. Currently, I will just say that I like to take pictures:)

thanks for the tips, feel free to share any more you learn from your class :o)
love that 30 degree angle tip! usually I try and turn the flash off and then get better light - a pain =)
Thanks! I have always admired you pictures! I want to take a digital camera class. I also wanted to tell you to add "The Host" by Stephenie Meyer to your list of books you want to read soon! :) I just finished it and LOVED IT!!!!! It is about 600 pages and I read over 400 pages of it over the last two days to finish it! It is amazing!!!!!!
Who is that HOT girl in the pic with you? I'm sure she's a model or something...
Whoever she is, she is definitely HOT!! ;)
Thanks for the tutorial! I always get flash reflection.
Rachel! I haven't seen her in forever. Thanks for the tips.
I want to take a class! I'm so jealous! Keep the advice coming!! I love the frame you made--super cute. And I just have to tell you that the comment you left about your future little girls name was probably the sweetest compliment I've ever gotten. Thank you a million!!! (I'm suprised Al could even remember all those names of mine...sometimes I forget.) :)
Love the photo tips. I'm lucky to be able to get the time to shower let alone take classes......maybe someday.

Thanks for the tips. I also use Picasa to edit my photos right now. But, I am going to try and take an online Photo Shop class next semester through Palomar. Your pictures always look amazing!!

I like those tips! I'll have to try to remember that lower your chin one. I'm sure I do lift my chin up slightly for pictures without even thinking about it! I use Picasa too and really like it, and Photoshop frustrates me so I don't use it either.
I use Picasa but want to learn photoshop better - thank you for the great tips. I do it wrong on all accounts! And the frame is darling!
