Now how's that for alliteration? (I'm quite proud of myself, thank you very much.) My poor little boys are getting tons of teeth all at once. I'm telling you, Ethan got about 10 teeth all at the same time! Saturday afternoon/evening he began feeling hot and was a little grumpy but went to bed just fine...only to wake up at 11:30 screaming his hot little, burning head off. Alan and I took turns trying to calm him down, gave him water, pressed a cold wash cloth to his head and gave him some Motrin. It took about 45 minutes, but he fell asleep all the way until 5:30 a.m. He woke up fussy, but not angry (like he had been at 11:30) so I rocked with him and gave him a small bottle, then he slept until 7:15. He was feeling pretty good when church time came (1pm--awful time!) so we went and made it through a whopping 15 minutes of sacrament meeting before all 4 of us packed up and went to the foyer--not because of Ethan's fever, but because two 14 month olds are beyond squirmy!! (Usually we have 2 sets of grandparents to help us out, but both were out of town--so sad). I really have no idea what anyone spoke about, I was far too busy chasing little people through the cultural hall, keeping them from pushing open the doors to go out into 95 degree heat (ick!), and walking the halls with them. After sacrament, Alan and I took the boys home, put them down for a nap, then I went back to fulfill my primary calling responsibilities (thankfully we live all of 2 minutes from the church). When I got home an hour and a half later, Alan was giving the boys a bath to try and cool little Ethan down. He woke up from his nap SCREAMING and shaking (from anger, not a seizure) and when I took his temperature it was at 102.4. SO SAD!! I called the Dr's office and was able to speak with a nurse and she helped me calm down and recommend lots of cold liquids and Motrin along with other advice that I don't recall right now. After giving him both of those things, we went out onto the patio and let the boys play with water and bubbles. Lots and LOTS of bubbles! Boy oh boy that sure did help!

And then we fed them a spaghetti dinner since they were already so messy.

Needless to say, they took another bath after dinner to go along with their morning bath and after nap bath. We had some clean little boys by the end of the day! Ethan did lots better sleeping that night and after another not-so-great day on Monday, he was doing pretty good by Tuesday and all the way better by Wednesday. He is the proud new owner of at least one monster sized moler and a new bottom tooth. If he would let me look in his mouth for more than .175 seconds, I would have a better idea of how many new chompers he really has.
So of course, since Ethan is done teething for the moment, it's David's turn. I noticed him getting hot this afternoon and waited to see how he was feeling until after we went to the park. When we got home, he fell asleep for his nap just fine, but woke up quite warm and fussy. He clung to me without abandon and fussed and cried and after taking his temperature, I decided to give him some Motrin. He cuddled (I LOVE cuddling with my boys and so rarely get it these days) with me for a good 30 minutes while the medicine went to work and then finally when I could tell his fever had gone down, he decided he was ready to climb down and join Ethan in some fun. Poor little munchkins, it can't be fun getting new teeth in. I'm so glad it's something we don't remember!

Wow, what an adventure (if you want to call it that!)
You know those plastic and mesh bags that are sold for putting whole foods in when babies are learning to eat solids? I used to put ice in those for my little teether, and I plan on doing it with Orion. Lincoln is getting his last molars in now, and he practically lives on motrin and ice! Hopefully that will help your cuties during this ouchie phase!
PS they are actually just mesh bags with a plasticky ring handle for kids to hold on to.
So Sorry! Wish I had some advice for you! The blocks are super easy, get a 4X4 at Home Depot and cut them 3 1/2 inches a part. Sand them down really good. Paint the blocks with tole paint. Cut your pictures out, I used spray adhesive to glue the pics down first. (If you don't glue them down first they curl up after time) Then I mod podged over the top of them. We actually did those for mother's day and on top they say "Happy Mother's Day 2008" I just made a 3.5x3.5 square on my computer then typed it in the square, and then ran cute scrap book paper through the computer. I didn't show the top because my mom looks at my blog, and I wanted it to be a surprise for Mother's Day.
Good idea Sarah! I had forgotten about that. I packed those things up long ago but will definitely search for them today!
And thanks for the craft directions Jaime, I'm totally excited to try it out!
Sounds like my home right now and church experience (we have 1:00 church also). Last night was the first night they slept through the night all week. We don't have fevers though, but plenty of runny noses to go along with those new teeth. Hope they get past it soon. No fun!
What a rotten thing to be going through! I send my sentiments--and hey, at least you get it mostly over with all at once instead of one at a time?
sad to say, but I'm somewhat happy I'm not the only one - ha ha! But seriously, teething sucks for my kids too! I think Jackson woke every 2 hours when he got his molars. Oh ya, it's spelled with an A, not E. right now I've got 2 boys with allergy noses/coughs - lovely! Oh well, it's all worth it, right? right? Ya, it is =)
Wow that looks like so much fun. Oh the memories of twins teething. Just wait until the potty training. (:

What a week...poor Mommy! They sure are growing up. Just think only 4 more months until they can go into nursery!
what adorable little boys!
i remember when we had to strip our kids before feeding them...
I'm new. looking for good blogs to read and found yours.
So sad! I hate teething. Hope they get all those little teeth in soon and get back to feeling better. Those bubble pics are so cute. I imagine Gage would have loved to join in. :)
Katie! Derrick found your blog, so it will be good to stay informed. You have such a beautiful family! I'm so happy for you guys--it's hard to believe you're really married to Alan and you guys have two kids. But in a way, it seems totally natural too. You guys are great.
